The doll made its debut at the American International Toy Fair in New York on March 9, 1959. This date is also used as Barbie's official birthday. The first Barbie doll wore a black-and-white zebra striped swimsuit and signature topknot ponytail, and was available as either a blonde or brunette.
March 9th is Barbie's 60th anniversary! I wanted to honor her with a special photo shoot!

Our Barbie Charm School event was a great success! Girls had to pass a series of etiquette challenges to earn badges. Each were awarded a certificate of completion at the events end.
There was a beauty center set up for trying on perfume, hair accessories and jewelry.
Growing up in Los Angeles in the 70s/80s we visited Disneyland on a regular basis and often after school, before "Annual Passes".
