Introducing Mike a.k.a. @DEEESHER
Mike is a die hard Star Wars and Star Trek fan.
I've been cosplaying since 2015, and I regret not doing it much sooner.
My first cosplay was Captain Mal from Firefly.
Challenges of Cosplay?
It can get expensive. I regularly try to decide is I REALLY need something for my cosplay after seeing the price. And I try to go for as accurate as possible, just because I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Obviously you don't have to, but personal preference. It can be difficult to find just the right thing to complete the look.
What do friends and families say?
Well my family is all in northern Indiana so other than my parents, I don't know if any of them know. My dad has said before that I look a lot like Nathan Fillion, which is great for my Captain Mal Cosplay! So I think he appreciates it a bit. My mom has always been into nerdy things, so I'm sure she thinks it's cool. As for my friends, I have two categories of friends. Nerdy and normies. My nerdy friends are always pushing me into it and happy about it. My normie friends either don't know or we just don't talk about it lol.
Best Con experience?
I've been going to conventions for many years, and I have some great celebrity meet and greets that I can think of. But I think it put a whole new spin on things for me the very first time I cosplayed. I reluctantly did it, but figured I would try and was so surprised and humbled by everyone's reaction. It definitely made me look at things a whole new way and I was eager to do it again.
