Pirates of the Caribbean opened March 18, 1967, just three months after Walt Disney's death and was the last Disneyland attraction of which he participated. My step dad's brother, got his Masters Degree in mechanical engineering in 1965 in TX. After moving to Pasadena, CA he was working at a firm that was hired to do the A/C and plumbing for the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. There are 630,000 gallons of water, 53 audio-animatronic animals and birds, and 75 audio-animatronic pirates and villagers in the attraction, and it takes three days to empty and refill the "bayou" for renovations. The original Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at Disneyland park, which inspired a global phenomenon and launched a highly popular film franchise, adds new magic in 2018 with a new scene. Fans from the attraction’s early days may hear a familiar voice as a pirate shares the cautionary tale of a cursed treasure as they pass a swashbuckler caught in a booby-trap.
The State of CA is set to reopen theme parks during Stage 3 of reopening the state. California is currently at Stage 2.
Stage 3 also includes salons, gyms, theaters, and sporting events without audiences. A definitive date has not been set for Stage 3, Governor Gavin Newsom recently said the state could be to Stage 3 in June. Over Memorial weekend, Orange County, home to the Disneyland Resort, moved to Stage 2, allowing in-restaurant dining and shopping centers to reopen. More on this as news develops. Disney stores have announced that they will begin phasing store openings within shopping malls. In accordance with guidelines from Health authorities, the following health and safety measures will be implemented at each store location.
