Mary Poppins is... well...practically perfect in every way. And it was such fun meeting her at Disneyland. You can typically find both her Mary and Bert on Main Street near the Jolly Holiday Bakery. Once inside there's much to choose from, light sandwiches or my favorite - brownies, cakes, and the famous Matterhorn macaroon! Outdoor seating is available on the patio or in front of the bakery. Tables topped with bright yellow umbrellas make the perfect spot for parade watching. A short jaunt down Main Street leads you to the Disney Emporium. You'll find every kind of Disney themed merchandise inside. If you look up over head, you'll see character vignettes. Here is Bert with Mary and a few dancing penguins. Mary Poppins will always be one of my favorite movie characters. I HIGHLY recommend seeing the film Saving Mr. Banks.
On a beautiful California day, you must stop in for lunch at the Beverly Hills hotel! Providing privacy, glamour and seamless service, the ‘Pink Palace’ holds a timeless appeal, as legendary as the Hollywood history that surrounds it. The staff here is AMAZING! Attentive and polite, they see to your every need. They provide quick and courteous service. We were greeted as soon as we arrived. I am in love with the Martinique wallpaper found here at the hotel! Signature palm print has sparked a global trend! The Martinique banana leaf wallpaper was created for the hotel in 1949 and still adorns the walls. It’s become an iconic symbol of this unique building. The iconic diner has been serving Hollywood stars since 1949 and you still never know who you might find yourself eating a slice of apple pie next to. 1950s-style counter service Marilyn Monroe was romanced here. Guns N’ Roses were signed at this very counter. This diner seats its customers at the gloriously nostalgic, curved bar. Grab a stool, relax and watch the ballet of calm and experienced service at work in front of you. The famous Polo Lounge also has an outdoor patio where you can enjoy the lush gardens and sunlight. We had lunch at the Fountain, then made our way across the hall to the Patio for drinks. Afterwards, it was time to explore more of the grounds. The day was a perfect 80-degrees and everything was so green. Photos at the pool cabana were off limits, understandably since there are hotel guests there relaxing. I did get photos of the walkway and the pool stairs. I recommend a visit for lunch or a hotel stay. This 5-Star hotel is not only gorgeous and full of history, but it is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the lush tropical view at the Pink Palace.
Had a great time at the character breakfast. I recommend this experience for any family. You have many delicious food choices. Upon entry, Chef Goofy is there to greet you. I just love his Chef outfit! The food is delicious! I could not resist the Mickey Mouse waffles. And of course the Downtown Disney District is home to awesome restaurants and shops where you buy Disney merch! You MUST try the character breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen. It's one of many offered throughout the Disney Resort, but it's the original! |
