In 1954, Walt Disney publicly announced an agreement between the Walt Disney Company and ABC to broadcast the Disneyland television series. At the same time Walt announced the opening of Disneyland would occur in July 1955. The most important element of the ABC-Disney agreement, which was hammered out between Roy Disney and ABC executive Leonard Goldenson, was ABC’s commitment to guarantee up to $4.5 million in construction loans for Disneyland. In exchange for the loan guarantee and $500,000 in upfront cash, ABC received a 34.48 percent ownership stake in Disneyland.
Growing up in Los Angeles in the 70s/80s we visited Disneyland on a regular basis and often after school, before "Annual Passes".
